Its versatility allows it to be crafted into chains, rivets, bolts, and shafts. With a carbon content of less than 0.25%, it is known for its softness, earning it the moniker of soft steel. This category encompasses both ordinary and high-quality carbon structural steel. Typically, low carbon steel is rolled into angle steel, channel steel, I-steel, steel pipes, steel belts, and steel plates. These forms are instrumental in constructing diverse building components, containers, boxes, furnace bodies, and agricultural machinery. High-quality low carbon steel sheets are crucial in producing car cabs and engine hoods, supporting deep drawing processes. It also serves as bars for mechanical parts that don't demand high strength, while mild steel's limited strength restricts its applications.
Enhancing the strength of steel is possible by elevating manganese content and introducing trace alloying elements like vanadium, titanium, and niobium.
