Application
Low carbon steel, renowned for its adaptability, is a prime material for various processing techniques such as forging, welding, and cutting. This type of steel, with a carbon content of less than 0.25%, is often referred to as soft steel due to its low strength and hardness. It's a staple in manufacturing essential components like chains, rivets, bolts, and shafts. Its general forms include angle steel, channel steel, I-steel, steel pipes, belts, and plates, essential for constructing various building components, containers, boxes, furnace bodies, and agricultural machinery. Moreover, high-quality low carbon steel is rolled into sheets for producing car cabs, engine hoods, and other deep-drawing products, while bars from this steel are used in mechanical parts with low strength demands. However, its applications can be limited by its inherent low strength.
Enhancing steel strength involves elevating manganese content and introducing trace alloying elements like vanadium, titanium, and niobium. The manufacturing process of mild steel bars begins by inserting the bar until it forms the desired round steel pipe, followed by high-frequency current welding. Subsequent steps include passing the tube through a machine for deviations correction and cutting to the predetermined length. Post-production, the mild steel pipe undergoes deburring and pressure testing, followed by hot dip galvanizing or surface painting. The pipe ends may be beveled and threaded with flanges.
