This soft steel, also known as mild steel, includes both ordinary and high-quality carbon structural steel varieties. Typically rolled into essential structural shapes like angle steel, channel steel, I-beams, and more, it's foundational in constructing building components, containers, and even agricultural machinery. In high-quality form, low carbon steel can be molded into sheets for deep-drawn products like vehicle cabs and engine hoods, or fashioned into bars for low-strength mechanical components. However, applications are somewhat limited due to its inherent low strength.
The potency of steel is exponentially enhanced by infusing manganese and trace alloy elements, including vanadium, titanium, and niobium, into carbon steel. Mild steel bars are instrumental in producing round steel pipes, with manufacturers molding them precisely as desired. High-frequency current welding ensures robust pipe integrity, followed by meticulous straightening and precise length cutting.
